We Passed!

Our trip to Redlands, California for the two-week technical evaluation with Mission Aviation Fellowship, MAF, went quite well. Steve did well under the pressure of being evaluated for two weeks. His first week consisted of flying in and around the deserts of southern California. The second week found Steve taking some very long exams and showing his maintenance knowledge. Laura saw the inner workings of MAF headquarters and participated in some office jobs almost every day.

We have been asked to come back to Non-Technical Candidacy in July of 2004. This is another two-week evaluation of sorts. At the end of these two weeks we will be told if we are officially accepted with MAF. If we are accepted, then we will be assigned to a country and begin the Ministry Partnership training course at MAF. After that we will begin raising support.

Both of us enjoyed our time at MAF headquarters. It was good to see how they work and to be able to ask questions in person. We also had some wonderful dinners with staff members and enjoyed getting to know them. We enjoyed seeing some friends and rejoicing with those who were just accepted to MAF.

As an added bonus, we were able to spend time with both sets of our parents. Laura’s parents drove us to and from Nashville, TN where we caught our flight to CA. Steve’s parents were also able to join us for a day on the way back.
